Not just the wind farm shown here, but also those old fashioned windmills used to pump water for livestock. SOmetimes the Flotsom and Jetsum is more interesting than the natural objective........

I volunteer at Eldorado Canyon State Park, near Boulder, Colorado. It used to be a resort, but was purchased by the State in the 1970’s. It is a rock climbing destination extraordinaire. But why is there a house in my Park? well, private parcels had been sold off in the old Resort days, and that property was not included in the original sale to the state. So, there are people (not just the owner of the obnoxious red house) who live back there. It causes some problems when the very popular park is over full, and they are allowed through passage while park patrons await entry.....

Rand is not exactly dead, but not too alive either. It’s one or two steps above what the state of Nevada would classify as a ‘Living Ghost Town’. I like that designation, but I haven’t found another state that has a category for minimally inhabited towns.

Meet the Sheriff, stop and say hello when you are in town!

No, the orange trees are not Fall Colors in Colorado. Rather the work of the work of the Rocky Mountain Pine Beetle at Michigan Lake in the Colorado State Forest near North Park. Marching across the backside of the Front Range like Poe’s Conqueror Worm........Last Fall this was still 90% green living trees; now it is >90% dead, and one lightening strike or careless campfire away from total disaster.
